we don't play poker.

You listened to the music
as if I'm the one that showed you those songs,

as if I don't know
what they remind you of.

I won't recycle old arguments on love,
but the last thing it ever was
is a game of cards.

Old decks satisfy the people that once knew you,
but you write yourself on a new hand of cards
every time you shuffle out the good and the bad.

And some people never see the decks
spelling out all the things they did wrong.

We play a different game with clearer intentions,
where the cards don't lose their color,
and the lowest numbers have the highest value.

There's enough kings and queens to make matches out of everyone,
for everyone,
when the number of cards gets thrown out and exchanged for new.

So take a place at the table,
take the hand that's dealt,
and start a new game.
